The Victory Belles, a vocal trio performing the music of the 1940s, serenaded the audience with their patriotic performance. Carla Heard, the winner of the inaugural Caddo's Rising Star talent competition, wowed the crowd with her performance before the fireworks. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council's efforts ensured there was plenty to do for the entire family.
South Bossier Park
One of the most popular spots for the Freedom Fest Finale was South Bossier Park, where thousands gathered for food trucks, live music, and a spectacular fireworks display. Open Road Fellowship Church expanded its family area with a large tent featuring worship teams, bounce houses, and cornhole boards. The organizers' goal of bringing the community together to honor the greatest country in the world was evident in the enthusiastic participation.
Blanchard
The Town of Blanchard and Northwood Hills Golf Club hosted a community celebration for the 250th anniversary of the Fourth of July. Live music from the Jake Williams Band was cut short due to high winds, rain, and lightning, but the spectacular fireworks display went ahead as planned. Families with blankets and lawn chairs settled in for the festivities, creating a memorable experience.
Lake Claiborne
The Claiborne Parish Watershed District hosted its celebration at Lake Claiborne, with a planned patriotic boat parade canceled due to the weather. The fireworks soared into the sky from the Lake Claiborne dam, with great viewing locations all around the lake, including the state park and local marinas. The event showcased the beauty of Lake Claiborne and the surrounding areas.
Cypress Lake in Benton
Cypress Lake in Benton was another family-friendly spot, with no alcohol allowed. The park opened at 8 a.m. for normal operations, with everything kicking into gear at 5 p.m. Open Road Fellowship Church provided inflatables and entertainment, and a flotilla on the water offered a unique fireworks viewing experience. The event was a hit with families, who enjoyed the live entertainment and the beautiful setting.
Jefferson, Texas
The Jefferson Salutes America Festival at Otstott Park in Jefferson, Texas, was a celebration of the 33rd Annual Jefferson Salutes America Festival. The event featured a wreath laying, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and a parade through historic downtown Jefferson. The Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band performed a patriotic concert, and the evening ended with a massive fireworks display. The festival benefited area youth organizations and the historic Jefferson Carnegie Library's children's programs.
Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview
The Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview hosted the Fireworks and Freedom Celebration, featuring a concert by the Longview Symphony Orchestra and a headliner band, The Peterson Brothers. The event was canceled due to the weather, but attendees still enjoyed a Cruise Night and Patriotic Car Show, family-friendly performances, a hot dog eating contest, BINGO, and a petting zoo.
